Social network Facebook has confirmed that it is indeed testing a priority messaging system that will see users pay fees for sending messages to public figures.

Facebook is positioning the pay-for-delivery system as a way to reduce spam and other unwanted messages from reaching users’ Inboxes. As it stands now, Facebook users can send messages to strangers, but Facebook’s filters aim to keep those out of the recipient’s Inbox and put them in the “Other” folder, instead.

Cody R Wilson has figured out how to print a semi-automatic rifle from the comfort of his own home. Now he’s putting all the information online so that others will join him.

This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 24 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology. This makes him a highly controversial figure on both sides of the gun control issue. MOTHERBOARD sat down with Cody in Austin, Texas to talk about the constitution, the legal system, and to watch him make and test-fire a 3D-printed gun.

Wearable computers seem to be the next big thing. We’ve already seen Google Glass in action and it looks awesome. Start up company Thalmic Labs has added a new bit of tech to the wearable variety with the new MYO armband. It works on gesture and muscle recognition control. So you manipulate your hands and arms in a suitable action gesture. The armband uses Bluetooth to wirelessly connect to other devices, such as PCs and mobile phones, without having to physically interact with them. They are selling for about R1300 or $150.

The Pirate Bay Away From Keyboard
The documentary about the founders of the Pirate Bay directed by Simon Klose, based on the lives
of the three founders of The Pirate Bay – Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij and Gottfrid Svartholm.

The film’s website was launched on 28 August 2010, along with a Kickstarter campaign to raise
US$25,000 to hire an editor after the Court of Appeal trial. The campaign was fully funded within
three days and raised $51,424 in total.

In February 2011, the Swedish government’s Arts Grants Committee Konstnärsnämnden granted
the project an additional 200,000 SEK (≈ $30,000).

Recently, I use Gnome 3 back as desktop with Sabayon Linux.

Sabayon Linux or Sabayon (formerly RR4 Linux and RR64 Linux), is a Gentoo-based Linux distribution created by Fabio Erculiani and the Sabayon development team. Sabayon follows the “Out of the box” philosophy, aiming to give the user a wide number of applications ready to use and a self-configured operating system.

GNOME 3 is a desktop environment and graphical user interface that runs on top of a computer operating system. It is composed entirely of free and open source software and is mainly developed by Red Hat employees.

Video:

What also cool is the Integrated messaging

GNOME 3 incorporates a unique, built-in messaging system. Messages can be directly responded to from notification popups, and you can access your previous communications from the Messaging Tray which is always available from the bottom of the screen. This means that holding a conversation does not require repeated window switching.

Everything is on your fingertips

Search is central to the GNOME desktop. Applications, windows, documents and even settings can all be quickly and easily searched for from one place. Accessing GNOME’s desktop search is as simple as pressing the windows key and starting to type. This is a great feature for people who like things to happen fast.
